This past Wednesday, May 4, on the campus of Thrall High School, four standout Tiger student-athletes signed to take the next step by signing their college letters.
Tyreke Irvin and Blair Neighbors are headed to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB). Jacob Grissom will be attending Texas Lutheran University (TLU) and Ryleigh O’Campo moves forward to Midland University.
Irvin signed to play football for the Crusaders. Irvin finished his senior year at Thrall as the school’s all-time single season rushing touchdown record holder with 26 and rushed for 980 yards. He also had 179 yards receiving yards and one receiving touchdown last year.
Irvin will be joined in Belton with fellow football teammate Neighbors. Neighbors led the Tigers in defense last season with 68 tackles, two sacks and three interceptions. He also had 280 yards receiving and five touchdowns.
Grissom, son of Thrall volleyball coach Bethany Grissom, is headed to TLU for track and field.
State powerlifter O’Campo signed with Midland University. In March of 2021 O’Campo was named Texas High School Powerlifting Association (THSPA) Region 4 Outstanding Squatter Heavy Platform for Division III.
