Taylor’s keeper of books has knowledge to share.
The sixth episode of the Taylor Press video interview series with city of Taylor staff , “Taylor Talk with Jason Hennington,” will be Monday, May 9, at noon on the Taylor Press Facebook page. Karen
Ellis, Taylor Public Library director, is the planned guest.
Ellis has been library director since 2004. In addition to helming the facility and organizing events at the library, she occasionally presents updates to the Taylor City Council.
On March 24, the council approved a revision to library circulation policy to allow for future changes of lending periods with specifications for each adjustment.
“I just hesitate to come back every time I make a small change,” Eills told the council, “so what I’m proposing is a little bit more broad statement that allows if you trust me, the library director, to make those decisions.”
The policy change gives the library director the ability to change checkout periods as needed to make all materials fairly available.
Ellis will discuss this as well as summer programs and more during the interview.
The first five episodes of Taylor Talk featured City Manager Brian LaBorde, Deputy City Manager Jeff Jenkins, Police Chief Henry Fluck, human resource director LaShon Gros and parks and recreation director Tyler Bybee. The officials discussed their work, upcoming projects, parts about their life and ways their departments connect to the community.

The show is scheduled to broadcast on the second Monday of every month at noon, with this month’s broadcast being an exception. The show complements the Taylor Press’ other live show, “Around the Watercooler,” which airs at 11:15 a.m. Thursdays and primarily covers local sports along with other topics.
