City, school to talk growth

An early Monday morning meeting between Taylor city and school leaders will focus on new neighborhoods and projects. On May 9, the City Council and Taylor Independent School District board of trustees will hold a joint meeting at 7:30 a.m.

An early Monday morning meeting between Taylor city and school leaders will focus on new neighborhoods and projects.

On May 9, the City Council and Taylor Independent School District board of trustees will hold a joint meeting at 7:30 a.m. at the Taylor ISD board room at the Main Street Intermediate School campus, 3101 N. Main St. in Taylor.

Tom Yantis, city development services director will provide an update on new development in Taylor. Superintendent Devin Padavil will also provide a general update from the school district.

Several neighborhoods and projects are in construction, planned or in the proposal stages. One example is the Samsung Austin Semiconductor plant being constructed in southwest Taylor.

Projects as listed are:

• In construction — The Grove, Castlewood, Boxwoods and Samsung

• Planned — Old Georgetown Road, Spring Creek, Castlewood South, Trenton Village, Parkside Townhomes, Mule Loop Townhomes, Talbot Commons and Northside; and

• Proposed — Vorwerk Tract, Gateway, Megatel Taylor, “3811 N. Main,” Cielo Ranch, Bull Branch Townhomes and Taylor Heights.
