Temperatures will fluctuate again this week from bitter cold to rather pleasant.
The Taylor Texas Weather Network forecast a chilly, windy weekend with lows reaching freezing temperatures in the upper 20s, while highs would be the 50s. The cold weather follows a cold front that swept the area Friday night, Jan. 14.
“Below normal temperatures behind the front will last until Monday afternoon (Jan. 17) with warmer than normal temperatures returning for Tuesday (Jan. 18),” said the National Weather Service (NWS) Austin/ San Antonio Office. “No rainfall is anticipated through Wednesday (Jan. 19), but another cold front will arrive late in the day.”
The cold front also prompted a wind advisory for Saturday, Jan. 15.
“Northwest winds behind the front will gust to 30-40 mph overnight, and potential gusts up to 50 mph at many locations Saturday,” said the NWS Austin/San Antonio Office. “The windy and dry conditions could promote a rapid spread of any fires that develop.”
As for Sunday, Jan.
16, winds should be more modest at 10-15 mph to let temperatures get to the mid 50s during the day and stay above freezing at night. Monday is expected to have a high in the upper 60s and low in the 40s. Tuesday and Wednesday should warm up to the lower 70s. Wednesday’s front could bring the area close to another freeze Thursday night, Jan. 20.
