Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we respond.
The truth is that stress doesn’t come from your work, your relationship, your kids, traffic jams or other circumstances. Stress doesn’t come from what’s going on in your life. It comes from your thoughts about what’s going on.
Your thoughts are very powerful. A lot of stress we are dealing with are really only thoughts. We rarely have a bad day. It’s more likely that we have a bad five minutes that we are milking all day. It’s really how we choose to think about it
The good news is that we can choose to change the way we look at things. Instead of magnifying the negative aspects of a situation and filter out all the positive ones, we can choose to look at the positive aspects first. Instead of automatically anticipating the worst without facts that the worse will happen, we can hope for the best.
If we realized how powerful our thoughts are, we would never think a negative thought again.
When you catch yourself stressing over something, ask yourself “Does this matter in five years?” If it doesn’t, take a big breath and remember that you are in charge of your thoughts. Let it go. Smile more.
Always remember there is goodness everywhere and kindness matters.
