Northview changes to Fellowship

In the late 1950s, a tiny cadre of 15 like-minded Christian families gathered to worship God, fellowship and engage in discipleship. What began as a home church quickly blossomed into a thriving Vernon Street Christian Church.

In the late 1950s, a tiny cadre of 15 like-minded Christian families gathered to worship God, fellowship and engage in discipleship.

What began as a home church quickly blossomed into a thriving Vernon Street Christian Church. Were they successful?

Absolutely. Before long and bursting at the seams, they built what is now Northview Christian Church on Highway 95.

That was in 1969. Over several decades, Northview Christian Church grew to an active congregation of about 300 people, vacation Bible school, revivals, monthly city-wide prayer meetings, Christian concerts, regular baptisms and sound Bible teaching. All of these were trademarks of this thriving church.

By 2019, weekly attendance had dwindled. Commendably and hoping to grow, this small but faithful congregation called Dr. Ron Braley to be their pastor that year. Then COVID-19 hit, and it hit a lot of churches very hard. But, Northview Christian Church persevered to do God’s will and has now decided to partner with The Fellowship Church, also a non-denominational Bible-teaching church.

With Round Rock and Hutto campuses, the Fellowship Church shares Northview’s core beliefs and discipleship-oriented goals. The Fellowship, one church now with three campuses, will offer engaging worship and be a place where kids and students can have fun and feel included in getting to know God better. They will also offer robust care programs for the grief-stricken, the widowed/divorced, and the elderly. Small groups, such as The Well for women and The Mine for men, will bring fellowship, spiritual growth and healing. The resulting partnership will also bring rich biblical teaching, vibrant prayer and discipleship for everyone – from children to the elderly.

How will the transition from Northview to the Fellowship happen? Here’s a tentative breakdown:

• April 24 – Northview Christian Church’s last formal worship service; and

• Aug. 14 – The Fellowship Church formally begins worship services and ministries.

In between Northview Christian Church’s last formal worship service and the launch of The Fellowship Taylor, The Fellowship will be preparing facilities and training ministries for the opening date.

And so, from August, the Northview Christian Church legacy will continue to live on in a new era of Fellowship ministries, worship and leadership.

Come. Worship. Be refreshed!
