BILLIE LOGIUDICE

Hutto ISD School Board Trustee (Incumbent)

Family is Mark-Anthony, Nathan, Kirsten and Hayden

How old are you and what do you do?

48 years old, Executive Director for The Sandbox at Madeline’s Place (a non-profit teen center)

What is your previous experience to elected or appointed office?

PTSA Board of Directors, Hutto Education Foundation, Coached Youth Soccer, Hutto Livestock Booster Club, Hutto Women’s Alliance, Hutto Young Life, Campus Improvement teams, Substitute various grade levels

What are your community activities?

Currently am part of the Professional Women of Williamson County, Temple College Alumni & Friends Advisory Board, Ag Sciences Advisory and a current participant in Leadership TASB

How will this help you in the seat you are running for?

I am a strong advocate for community partnerships and being connected. Together we can do so much more than apart. Being engaged and connected in my community helps understand the needs and desires of the citizens.

What is your biggest strength?

I am solutions oriented and intentional with my personal and professional development. I have an ability to work with large groups toward a consensus, even outside of the school board setting.

What is your biggest weakness?

I believe that because my expectations of myself are so high, I tend to have a difficult time delegating. I always have a desire to exceed expectations and strive to do so.

What sets you apart from your opponents?

I have served on the board for 12 years. This sets me apart by bringing an institutional knowledge and background to the decisions being discussed and made. I have been a part of making incredibly difficult decisions including closing a school, passing a TRE, attendance boundary shifts, etc. This has allowed me to grow in this role.

What is the biggest single problem facing the school/city?

Strong schools are the cornerstones of strong cities. Recruiting and retaining staff that positively impact student outcomes while meeting the societal demands for relevant, robust and rigorous classrooms and programs, reacting to the growth in terms of physical buildings all while maintaining a balanced budget, lowering taxes, increasing staff pay, collaborating with the right type of growth seems like a no-win situation where someone will sure to be negatively impacted.

Are there concerns in city/school district you feel have not been addressed?

One of the benefits to having strong partnerships is the ability to come together and share concerns, highlights, upcoming things to be aware of. This doesn’t mean we always agree on priorities or approach, but at least we are having the conversations.

How would you address them?

I would initiate conversations and take a proactive step to coordinate these opportunities with all the appropriate stakeholders and governmental bodies.

Why are you running?

I am running for re-election for the same reason I initially ran, to advocate for students and for the people who invest in them. I have a heart for the Hutto community, and I believe I still have something to offer as we forge on in our rapidly growing district and address the needs and desires of our stakeholders.

Why should people vote for you?

I have a proven commitment to the work of public education, to Hutto ISD and to the Hutto community. I am willing to have difficult conversations and make difficult decisions that are in the best interest of students.

TERRENCE OWENS

At Large Seat for the Hutto ISD School Board

Married for 29 years to my wife Angela with two wonderful kids Justis 25 and Journey 16

Over the years I have serve on several boards and believe that before you lead you must serve, some organizations include The Sandbox at Madeline’s Place, Williamson County Health District Board of Directors, Hutto Food Pantry, Hutto has Heart (Now known as Hutto Resource Center), board member for Central Texas School Board Association and board member for TASB Energy Cooperative.

How will this help you in the seat you

are running for?

My years of experience in the role as a trustee, hours of training in public education learning how govern a district, years of community service working with other leaders and serving the community and having relationships with hundreds of trustees across the state that are available to me and the distinct to use that to help solve and collaborate on are needs in our district.

What is your biggest strength?

Always wanting to listen to understand instead of listening to reply as a trustee. A strong supporter Public Education

What is your biggest weakness?

Balancing the work as trustee and family life. My family has made many sacrifices for me to do this work as a trustee.

What sets you apart from your opponents?

Experience that I can bring to the board, that I have the knowledge to be an effective trustee able to collaborate with other entities for betterment of the district.

What is the biggest single problem facing the school/city?

Local control, public school finance and the increase in student enrollment which will require more schools and staff.

How would you address them?

I wouldn’t say not being addressed but the sense of urgency for infrastructure, roads and securing future school sites.

Why are you running?

To continue to meet with the city, business owners, EDC, county officials and the Chamber to be at the table sharing ideas and thoughts.

The last two years our kids and our parents had to navigate a world that disrupted public education in so many ways. I feel my work is not done and bringing that experience of having to make tough decisions is needed at this time.

Why should people vote for you?

I am seeking a 3rd term as a nonpartisan trustee that is focused on all kids and seeing that they are equipped with tools to be productive citizens in our society. As a resident of 22 years in Hutto it makes me appreciate our heritage from the Kerley family to new families moving in every day. You will have someone who values you, respects you, and is willing to meet with you anywhere. This is not a two month meeting job, it requires many unpaid hours, tough decisions and understanding every decision you make for some they will not be happy. I’ve done the work; I’m doing the work.

Humbly ask you for your vote on May 7 to continue the work as a trustee of Hutto ISD.
