Kids can get free plants next Saturday while adults swap their greenery.
Friends of the Taylor Public Library have organized a plant swap April 23 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The event will give gardeners an opportunity to swap favorite plants, meet others with “green thumbs,” and exchange gardening wisdom. Every child can go home with an established plant for free.
There will be tables of plants to swap with designated easy-to-maintain plants for beginning gardeners. Roundtables led by area garden specialists will answer questions and give help. In the library conference room, speakers will share their wisdom and experience in gardening.
People bringing plants to share and swap should arrive by 10 a.m. for the nocharge event. Tables will be set up on the shady side of the library parking lot.
Friends of the Taylor Public Library are hosting the plant exchange to draw attention to the work of the Friends. The group helps raise funds to support the summer reading program, which provides rewards and incentives and includes performers and entertainers. Friends also helps with an annual visit of Santa, the annual Halloween Spooktacular Costume Contest and other seasonal celebrations.
