Antonio Valdez Jr. of Taylor went to be with his Heavenly Father Saturday, April 9, 2022.
Antonio Valdez Jr., 93, was born Oct. 31, 1928, in Taylor to Antonio and Trinidad (Aguilar) Valdez Sr.
He grew up with six brothers and two sisters. He married Cathrina Magallon Nov. 9, 1950, in North Dakota, and to this marriage came eight children, Robert, Rosie, Richard, Patsy, Ernest, Arthur, Victor and Vickie.
Antonio worked for the city of Taylor for 45 years until retirement. Antonio and Cathrina enjoyed traveling to Mexico and going dancing with family and friends.
Antonio had a love for building, sewing and fishing.
Antonio was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two children, Arthur and Vickie; and his six brothers, Isidio, Joaquin, Guadalupe, Crespin Sr, Nicholas and Pedro; sister Helen Rendon; and son-in-law Frank Azua Jr.
Antonio is survived by one sister, Tina Mojica; and his children, Robert, Rosie, Richard, Patsy, Ernest (Theresa) and Victor; plus 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Dorian Valdez, Vincent Azua, Roland Azua, Adam Martinez, Esteban Reyna and Ernest Valdez Jr.
Honorary pallbearers are Adrian Valdez, Toby Valdez.
Our family would like to thank Daisy Leyendecker, Stella Lopez, Alma Medina and Hospice staff for the amazing care they gave to our dad.
Visitation will be held Thursday April 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 22, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
