Why not try it?

I am exhausting to most people. I have this reservoir of energy that keeps me hopping and spurs me on to try everything at least once.

I am exhausting to most people. I have this reservoir of energy that keeps me hopping and spurs me on to try everything at least once.

Yes, there are times when I may take a nap or feel that my social battery has been drained. In all, I’m one of those colorful personalities that you either seek out when you need cheering up or feel like hitting over the head with the frying pan.

Some of my friends feel both ways about me, and that’s cool.

One of the things that I do that drives people crazy is that I’m constantly on to new ventures. I love to try new things.

I’m constantly reinventing my life.

I moved to Taylor for a new chapter and just loved it. I’m here for a while, it suits me, and I feel comfy. It’s one of my adventures that worked out.

As I age, I’ve learned that my greatest strength is knowing when to hold ’em and when to fold ’em. My latest bold life experiment was standup comedy. I did it for just over a year. I was hilarious, but not the next Fluffy or Anjelah Johnson. So, I quit.

It’s not that I ran away because I wasn’t any good, boo-hoo, but because the sheer amount of work it takes to be a talented, funny, and working standup comedian is far more than I was interested in putting in

The people doing stand-up comedy have this deep intense burning desire to do it, and that’s all they can see themselves doing. Well, I’m happy to say that I escaped that burning desire. However, it led me to meet so many people, and we are producing weekly shows here in Taylor - I feel part of the cultural growth of our town.

So, are you funny? Would you have the nerve to tell jokes in front of an audience? Want to try? There are local open mics right here in town or jump online for a free class. Take the mic at the BarBeCue this summer and give it a shot.

But if you don’t like it, don’t do it, but at least you gave it a shot.

We only get to ride around the sun so many times. Use those minutes in a way that helps you be everything you can be - you may find a part of yourself you didn’t know you had.

Or, you might get tomatoes thrown at you, but make a salad and move on!

For me, I’m onto something new - it involves zombies and dominoes. More soon!
