James Michael Williams (Jimmy), 58, passed away Friday, March 25, 2022.

Jimmy was born Dec. 20, 1963, in Dallas, to the late Phyllis (Richey) Williams and Jon Patrick Williams.

Jimmy grew up in Bartlett and graduated from Bartlett High School in 1982. After high school, he started to work as a lineman and received his license as an electrician. He became an electrical foreman and worked his way up to general superintendent for Walker Engineering with the service department.

He later worked for Berg Electric as general foreman earning the honor of Foreman of the Year. Jimmy loved working with his team and coworkers at Berg, taking much pride in his work and always sharing about his colleagues and the multiple high rises he helped build in downtown Austin.

One of his greatest opportunities in his career was time he spent in Africa working on an oil pipeline.

Jimmy talked about great friendships he built in Africa, and those friendships continued to the day of his death.

Jimmy loved the Lord and he enjoyed nothing more than listening to a good praise song, spending time with his grandkids, attending Astros games, watching Star Wars, cooking/ barbequing, reading anything astronomy related, making his family laugh with his various impersonations, and playing cards and boardgames.

Jimmy was a great provider for his family and many others who at times needed a place to lay their head, borrow money or find food to eat.

He was a selfless man who found great joy in taking care of others through his volunteer work. Jimmy often reminisced about his time as a volunteer EMT/firefighter for Bartlett Volunteer Fire Department, which held a special place in his heart. He had a servant’s spirit which led him to use his construction knowledge to build houses for Habitat for Humanity.

Even as his cancer progressed, Jimmy never stopped thinking of and providing for his family.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis (Richey) Williams; maternal grandparents, A.W. and Doris Richey; paternal grandparents, Travis and Cora Williams; and nephew, Joseph Williams.

Jimmy is survived by his children, James Williams and wife Alysia of Granger, Rylee Williams and wife Claudia of Hutto, Chase Williams of Washington, and Amanda Wooldridge and husband Ian of Manor; father, Jon Patrick Williams and stepmother Melinda Williams; sister, Tammy Hicks and husband Ricky Hicks; brother, Warren Williams and wife Jennifer Williams; sister, Candi Gadison; and 10 grandchildren, Emery, James, Paisley, and Kinsley Williams, Xavier Williams, Peyton and Allyson Williams, Major, Madison and Mila Wooldridge.

We are grateful for a host of precious and dear extended family who demonstrated so much love and support for Jimmy and for us; you cried with us, laughed with us, fed us, and that support will never be forgotten. Our family is truly a blessing.

The Williams Family would like to extend a special note of gratitude to James K. Williams, Berg Electric, Tahar Chenaf and Travis Williams. You showed such love and care for our Jimmy. You may never quite know exactly how much your kind words, actions, and the precious time you spent with Jimmy meant to him and to us. Your visits, texts, and calls made Jimmy smile and laugh at a time he needed it most. You walked this journey with us and for that we will forever be grateful.

In lieu of flowers please send a memorial gift in honor of James (Jimmy) Williams to Bartlett Volunteer Fire Department, Bartlett.
