Granger Lions advance in UIL

Granger High School students recently competed in University Interscholastic League academic events have advanced to regional competition. Here are last month’s results: • News Writing — Hunter Prinz, fourth place; Callie Rodriguez, sixth place; • Editorial Writing — Hunter Prinz, first place, advances to regionals; • Headline Writing — Hunter Prinz, second place, advances; Johnny Ryder, fourth place; • Copy Editing — Leeah Malone, fourth place; Marissa Luna, sixth place; • Ready Writing — Hunter Prinz, first place, advances; Johnny Ryder, fifth place Oziel Martinez, sixth place; • Persuasive Speaking — Marissa Luna, sixth place; • Social Studies — Marissa Luna, fourth place; Renae Stephens, fifth place; Callie Rodriguez, sixth place; • Spelling — Kailey Castaneda, sixth place; and • Science — Deacon Kuecker, physics top score; advances.

• Persuasive Speaking — Marissa Luna, sixth place;

• Social Studies — Marissa Luna, fourth place; Renae Stephens, fifth place; Callie Rodriguez, sixth place;

• Spelling — Kailey Castaneda, sixth place; and

• Science — Deacon Kuecker, physics top score; advances.

Granger’s overall journalism and social studies teams placed second in their divisions. The social studies team’s placement puts them in position for a wild card spot at regionals.
