There will be some detours in Granger this month.
Davilla Street will be closed from S.H. 95 to Walton Street for approximately four to six weeks. West Ash Street and West Mesquite Street will be the only two railroad crossings open within Granger.
Construction crews contracted by Williamson County have begun work on the Davilla Street culvert project. Chasco Contractors have begun to pave Ash Street, north of Davilla Street. Ash Street is being paved to improve the crossing over the railroad tracks for haul trucks going to the gin.
The project includes removing some of the brick pavers so that a damaged box culvert can be removed and replaced. The bricks will be salvaged and delivered to the city of Granger. The brick portion of the roadway will be replaced with concrete pavement that will be stained and stamped to match the existing brick pavers. Removal of the bricks began Monday, April 4.
On March 10, Williamson County Precinct 4 Commissioner Russ Boles was joined by Granger Mayor Monica Stojanik, Granger City Administrator Christy Bradshaw and others to break ground on the Davilla Street culvert project.
“I’m so excited for the project,” said Boles. “This road with this culvert is critical to the whole city of Granger, and I’m honored that they’re allowing us to work on it with them.”
The project was designed by RS&H. The contractor is Chasco Constructors. The cost of the project is $664,464 and is funded with voterapproved 2019 Road Bonds.
