The Hutto Hippos boys' basketball team remains unbeaten since the start of the new year as they reeled off their 8th straight win Friday night against the Bastrop Bears 84-49.
The Hippos bounced the Bears in a game that pushed the team 27-3 overall and 8-0 in district play. They have all but wrapped up the district title as they hold a two-game lead over Manor, who sits in second.
Senior, Xavier Patterson, and Junior, Jailen Bradford both scored 19 points in the Hippos big win. Senior, Jean-pierre Sanders added 12 points. Patterson led the Hippos on the defensive side grabbing 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Sophomore, Kaden Smart also had 11 points with 5 rebounds and 5 steals.
Having beaten the remaining schools on their calendar this year rather convincingly early on the Hippos are in good shape heading into the final stretch of the regular season. They were back in action Tuesday night at Elgin, who they beat earlier this year 99-53.
