The new decade has not been kind to the Taylor Lady Ducks basketball team. Since the clock struck midnight the team fallen in their last two games. In Tuesday nights game the Lady Ducks dropped their tenth game of the season falling to the Savio Lady Eagles 44-37.
The Lady Eagles jumped out to an 11-0 lead halfway through the first quarter. Taylor battled back by the end of the frame to trim the lead to four. The second quarter saw the Lady Ducks continue in high drive outscoring the Lady Eagles 14-10 to knot the game at halftime 28-28. Senior Natalie Alderete fired away from three-point land hitting two key shots that kept the Lady Ducks close.
In the second half the Lady Ducks came unraveled as they scored just 9 points the remainder of the game being shut out completely in the fourth quarter.
Alderete led the Lady Ducks with 13 points followed by Senior Ashlyn Collier’s 9 and Lakaysha Davis’ 7.
The Lady Ducks opened district play Friday night at home against Eastside and will again be at home on Jan. 14 to take on Burnet.
