Earlier this summer, in late June, an article was put out about the Thunderboltz track team. This past weekend the team competed at the AAU Junior Olympics.

Eleven-year-old Cameron Sanford competed in the javelin competition and finished in the Top 8 earning All-American. In his competition he threw 113ft. against athletes older than him. Cameron’s dad, Thunderboltz Coach Collin Sanford, the biggest and best motivation for the team was unable to attend the event, however his mother, Judsonia, did accompany him.

Ty’Shauna Shaw finished in the Top 25% in the nation in the 15-16-year-old girls javelin throwing over 100ft. Also, Jarvis Anderson, son of Coach Garner finished fourteenth out of eighty plus competitors in the triple-jump, jumping 43’6in. At fourteen he to was competing against older athletes.

Also, Jade Trevino competed in the girls 100m hurdles and long jump ranking in the Top 30 in the nation, and Marcus Jackson competed in the boys long jump finishing in the Top 40.

The team is continuing to blaze the trails and bring pride to city.
