The Thrall Tigerettes continued to struggle last week as they dropped a pair of games. On Friday, the Tigerettes lost to Mumfor 50-29 and on Saturday they fell to the Llano 50-19.
Against Mumford the Tigerettes spotted the Lady Mustangs a 13-2 lead at the midway point of the opening quarter. Mumford’s defense wreaked havoc on Thrall, and a combination of second-chance baskets and fast-break layups gave Mumford a 20-7 lead after the one quarter of play.
Mumford went to the line 15 times in the second and connected on 13 which made up the bulk of their scoring in the quarter. Thrall’s offense finally got going with the Tigerettes scoring a dozen points, led by Ashley Jarosek and Miranda Richter who each scored four points for Thrall, but Mumford held a
37-19 lead at the half.
Mumford managed just 13 points over the final two quarters, but Thrall scored just four baskets over the final 16 minutes and totaled 10 points in the second half.
Richter and Hope Martinez led the Tigerettes with six points each , while Jarosek and Rachel Trussel each scored four for Thrall.
On Saturday, Thrall traveled to Llano. The Lady Yellowjackets built an 18-5 lead through the first quarter and pushed their lead to 31-12 by the half. Llano shut out the Tigerettes in the fourth quarter while added a dozen points to their total and led 43-12 entering the fourth. Both teams added seven points to their scores in the final period.
Thrall will be off until Dec. 29 when they travel to Cameron to face the Lady Yoe. The Tigerettes will begin District 25-2A play on Jan. 5 when they travel to Holland.
