Coming off a home conference victory against Iola last week, the Granger Lions were unable to take down the Bremond Tigers Friday night on the road, losing 49-14 dropping the Lions to 5-3 on the season and 1-1 in the conference. The Bremond Tigers ran for 416 yards, led by RB JT Anthony’s 312 yards.
Returning at quarterback, Thomas Rhoades, passed for 144 yards on 10 of 22 completions and had 36 yards on 7 carries. Granger’s lead rusher, Carlos Reyna, ran for 90 yards on 10 attempts and scored Granger’s 2 touchdowns. Johnny Ryder, last week’s quarterback against Iola, led the team in receiving with 68 yards on 3 catches. Wide Receiver Wyatt Bolding had 29 yards on 3 receptions. The top defenders for the Lions was Linebacker Nathan Flores and Ryder, who both shared 9 tackles each. DJ McClelland had 8 tackles on defense and 13 yards receiving on offense. Tigers Running Back JT Anthony had 312 yards on 38 carries with 6 rushing touchdowns.
Granger had 264 total yards of offense, lost 2 fumbles, and had less than 12 minutes of possession. They also had 8 penalties for 77 yards and were 0 for 4 on fourth down. Bremond had 481 yards of total offense, more than 36 minutes of possession, and were 4 for 7 on fourth down. They had zero punts during the game.
The Lions will next host rival Bartlett Friday night. The Bulldogs are 0-7 for the season.
