The Taylor Ducks kicked off their 2019 football season Friday, August 30 in a non-district game against the Robinson Rockets. The Ducks managed to keep the contest close in the first half but eventually fell 41-7 to the Rockets. The game was the first one under new coach Robert Little.
“I thought defensively we played very well in the first half. We managed to create some turnovers and gave ourselves a couple of opportunities to get scores,” Little said.
The game after the 1st quarter was all zeroes and remained competitive until halftime at 14-7. The second half was all Robinson. The Rockets added 33 more points while holding the Ducks scoreless for the remainder of the game.
“Offensively, I felt like it was our first game. We did some good things but we very tentative and seemed to be unsure about some of our assignments. We had a couple of chances in the red zone early but were unable to punch them in. Robinson is a good football team and will win a lot of games this season. We have been together as a team for less than a month, and I think it showed Friday night. We now have to put this one behind us and look forward to this week against Lockhart,” Little said.
The Ducks will again be on the road this weekend at Lockhart to take on the Lions who crushed Travis last week 42-0.
