He was fast a lightning and even earned the nickname “Purple Reyna” from Taylor Press Sports. Now Granger star RB Carlos Reyna will be taking his lightning quick skills to the collegiate level.
Reyna will be heading to Texas Lutheran University to play in the American Southwest Conference against schools like Sul Ross State, Southwestern and Mary Hardin-Baylor.
“I think it’s a great place for me to continue my football career. It’s close to home and it’s a school I always had my eye on,” Reyna said.
Having received no offers from bigger colleges, Reyna did not let that deter him from football at the next level.
Reyna finished the 2019 football season leading the Lions in rushing with over 1,500 yards on the ground and 26 touchdowns to contribute to the Granger Lions 9-4 season. For his efforts, he was named District 13-2A Division II Offensive MVP. He averaged over 6 yards per carry and over 130 yards per game on the season.
While primarily the back-field speed Reyna also had 13 catches for 224 yards and 4 touchdowns for the Lions this past season.
As an all-around player Reyna also contributed on defense and special teams.
In January Reyna was selected for this year’s CenTex Victory Bowl.
