Granger scored 11 runs over the first two innings and rolled to a 17-7 win over Thrall Tuesday night in Thrall. The win keeps the Lady Lions in the hunt for the district title, while Thrall drops two games back of Granger into third.
Alexi Wade finished the night with three hits in five trips, including a three-run home run, and drove in seven. Gabby Ramirez also had a big night, driving in five runs.
Montana Moore drew a leadoff walk, but Thrall starting pitcher Autree Kelm struck out the next batter and got the third batter in the inning to ground out. Wade took a one strike pitch for a double to left scoring Moore.
Amayah Simien reached on a walk and both runners scored on Marissa Luna’s double giving Granger a 3-0 lead. Payton Filla followed with a walk and both she and Simien scored Ramirez’s making the score 5-0.
Addison Leschber tripled to lead things off and scored when she tagged up on a Desi Lopez fly to center. An error put Ashlyn Jarosek on third and the Tigerettes had runners at the corners when Raelynn Johnson walked. Jarosek stole home making the score 5-2 after one.
Granger started the second with a double by Moore and walk to Clarissa Miller. Moore and Miller eventually scored. With two on and one out, Luna picked up her second hit of the night to drive in Wade from third making the score 8-2. A fourth error loaded the bases for Ramirez, who hit a 3-run single to push the score to 11-2.
Karli Quintanilla and Leschber were issued walks. With two outs and two on, Lopez took a first pitch over the centerfield fence for a three-run home run.
The Lady Lions scored again in the fourth off hits by Luna and Ramirez to push the lead back to 12-5.
Leschber walked and stole second. She later advanced to third on a Granger error and scored on Lopez’s ground out. Back-to-back singles by Jarosek and Johnson put runners at the corners. Jarosek later scored to make the score 12-7.
In the fifth, Moore walked, and Miller tapped a bunt single. A sacrifice bunt by Mattie Wilkie advanced both runners. Wade hit a line-drive single to center scoring both runners and Granger’s lead stood at 14-7.
After a quiet bottom of the fourth, Granger struck again in the fifth. Moore drew a walk and Wilkie was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second for Wade. Wade connected sending the pitch over the center that put Granger up 17-7.
Thrall was back in action on Thursday when they traveled to Rosebud-Lott. Granger hosted Milano on Thursday.
