The 2019 season for the Taylor Ducks football team suffered their eighth straight defeat Friday night at the hands of the Fredericksburg Billies 35-10. The loss drops Taylor’s record to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in 4A-1 Region IV District 14 play.
Against Fredericksburg the Ducks managed just 88 total yards 33 through the air and 55 on the ground. A 16-yard pass play from Reece Gensler to Jayson Saucedo would be the Ducks only touchdown of the evening. Josue Perez added a 42-yard FG also in the third would be all the points the Ducks would muster. Michael Schneider and Chris Fabian shared the QB duties in the game Schneider was 244 with 6 yards and Fabian was 4/7 for 11 yards. With Jason Martinez absent in the game Schneider was the Ducks leading rusher with 25 yards. Ja’von Carver finished as the Ducks leading receiver with 3 catches for 18 yards
All season long the 2nd quarter has plagued the Ducks, and it did once again Friday night. The Billies scored 21 of their 35 points in the second. In a sense you could say the Ducks won the third quarter by outscoring the Billies 10-7. Fredericksburg added another score in the fourth to close out the game.
As bleak as the season has been, if the Ducks can somehow manage to win two of their remaining three games, they will sneak into the playoffs. The remaining schedule for the Ducks consists of a home game against Lampasas (6-1; 2-0) October 25, a visit to Liberty Hill (2-4; 0-2) November 1 and the final home game of the season against Burnet (4-3; 0-2) November 8.
