Not only did the Varsity Ducks bring home third place in the Taylor tournament this past week but the JV and Freshman Ducks were also successful. The Freshman boys finished tournament champions and the JV boys finished second.

To open Day 2 of the tournament the Varsity Ducks took on Cedar Park in semifinal for the Championship game. The Ducks held a slim 18-15 lead after the 1st frame but stumbled in the second as the Timberwolves grabbed a 30-25 lead at halftime. Cedar Park continued their hot streak outscoring the Ducks 26-22 in the final half of the game to take the victory 56-47.

Devin Garcia led the Ducks in scoring with 18 points followed by Ja’Ron Carver’s 11 points 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Josh Blue finished the game with a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Ducks would then match up in the consolation game against the Savio Eagles. After falling behind early in the first quarter the Ducks caught fire in the second outscoring the Eagles 24-11 and taking a 36-24 lead into the locker room at halftime. The second half was all Ducks and Taylor came away with the win 66-46 finishing third in an all-around successful home tournament.

Ja’Ron Carver tallied 17 points and Garcia and Ja’Von Carver each added 15 points along with Blue’s 12 in the win over Savio.

The Ducks record now stands at 9-4 and they are ranked #16 in the TABC Top 25. They were again in action on Tuesday at Pflugerville Weiss.
