The Granger Lions faced their rival, the Bartlett Bulldogs, last Friday and added another important conference win for the season, making them 2-1 in the district and 6-3 overall for the year.
The Lion’s offensive charge was led by Running Backs Carlos Reyna and DJ Mclelland, who each had 3 rushing touchdowns for the night. Reyna would finish the night with 129 rushing yards on 16 attempts. McClelland had 124 rushing yards on 7 carries with a long of 60 yards. He was also Granger’s lead defender with 8 tackles. RB Donnie Cantwell completed the game with 56 yards on 4 carries. Lion’s QB Thomas Rhoades completed 2 of 4 passes for 27 yards and 1 touchdown. The Lion’s top receiver for the game was Wyatt Bolding, who had 27 receiving yards on 2 receptions. Granger had 9 consecutive touchdowns on 11 total possessions for the evening. Bartlett’s lone touchdown came during the third quarter on a 70-yard run by Bulldog’s RB Devonta Davis.
The Lion’s had 383 total yards with 356 of those yards coming from their ground game. They completed 23 first downs, went 2 of 3 on fourth downs, and punted only once.
The Lions have a bye week but will play the last game of the regular season against the Chilton Pirates on November 8. This is an away conference game. Chilton is 5-3 for the season and 1-1 in the district.
