Katherine “Kitty” Lee Hodges Darr of San Antonio passed away at home in her sleep Feb. 2, 2020. Kitty was born July 5, 1924, in Baltimore, Maryland.
Above all else, Kitty loved her family. She was an avid reader and she was always up on the news of the day. She loved movies and vacations and car rides anywhere. She made the best lemon meringue pie and the best fudge in the world.
Kitty was preceded in death by her parents, Catherine L. Hodges and Thomas Lee Hodges; her son, Allen Lee Darr; her sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and J. Patrick Scullin; and her nephew, John T. Scullin.
Kitty is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 68 years, Allen J. Darr; daughter Kathleen A. Darr (Ned Tuck); son, Daniel R. Darr (Michelle); son, Michael J. Darr (Lisa); grandchildren, Zachary D. Tuck (Brittany Billmeyer-Finn), Kaitlyn J. Tuck, Chloe E. Tuck (Michael Brazda), Michael H. Darr, Joshua T. Darr, Madeline K. Darr and Meghan E. Darr. A host of nieces and nephews also survive, as does her best friend Emily Ahrens.
Rosary will be held Thursday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. at Porter Loring Chapel, 1101 McCullough Ave. in San Antonio.
A funeral mass will be held Friday, Feb. 14, at 9:45 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 600 Oblate Dr. in San Antonio. Father Christopher Munoz will officiate.
Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
