Irene Elsie Michalik Hamann, age 98, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, at the S.P.J.S.T. nursing home in Taylor. She was born Nov. 16, 1922, in Taylor and graduated from Taylor High School.
Irene was a hardworking housewife and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother throughout her life. She was a longtime member of the Taylor brethren church. She cheerfully attended, assisted and danced at her local S.P.J.S.T. events and was also the president of the local women’s VFW auxiliary.
Irene truly lived life to the fullest enjoying the little things, like calling friends and family, near and far, chatting for hours on the phone, and sitting on her front porch with her four-legged sidekick, and always providing superfluous amounts of epic snacks.
Irene and her famous Thanksgiving stuffing, among many other dishes, will remain legendary in her family’s eyes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Hamann, whom she married in 1945.
Irene is survived by her son, Larry Hamann (Jennifer Lowes Hamann); two granddaughters, Cristi Minzenmeyer (Randy) and Michelle Jones (Stacy); and five great grandchildren, Trevor and Lauren Loessin, and Weston, Randa, and Remington Minzenmeyer.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Dec. 22, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home. Family will be present from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 23, at 9 a.m. at the Taylor City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to SPJST.
