Ruby Schroeder, age 93, of Thorndale, passed away on April 20, 2021 in Taylor.
Ruby was born March 1, 1928, in Thorndale, to Walter and Olga Patschke.
She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale, where Rev. F. H. Stelzer baptized her on March 18, 1928, confirmed her on April 6, 1941, and officiated at her marriage to Marvin Niemtschk on June 1, 1947. They had two children, Ronald Ray and Patricia Gayle.
Ruby was widowed at the age of 50 and was blessed with a second marriage to Norris Schroeder on Sept. 8, 1979.
Ruby enjoyed being a homemaker, dancing with Norris, singing, playing 42 and giving and receiving hugs.
At St. Paul Lutheran church, she was a member of the LWML since 1953. LWML projects she worked on included making quilts for world relief, singing for rest home devotions, and putting together braille books for the blind. She also was a longtime member of the Firemen’s and VFW Ladies’ Auxiliaries.
Ruby was preceded in death by husband, Marvin; son, Ronnie; parents, two brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Norris; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and John Meiller; four grandchildren and their spouses, Paul and Alison Meiller, Randall and Marti Niemtschk, Mark and Ashley Meiller and Crystal and Eric Pena; eight great grandchildren, and two brothers, Howard and Walter Patschke and their spouses, Jan and Linda.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 25, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 26, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale. She will be laid to rest at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
