Mildred Wood, 93, of Taylor, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, Nov. 13, 2020.
She was born Oct. 17, 1927, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Silas and Bessie Furr.
Mildred grew up with three sisters and four brothers. She graduated from Gans High School, Gans, Oklahoma, in 1944, and Ozark Christian College in 1948 with a degree in Christian Education.
She married Henry Wood on May 30, 1947, in Joplin, Missouri. Henry and Mildred had ministries in Christian Churches in Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, and Texas for over 60 years. As the minister’s wife, she enjoyed singing, teaching and serving others.
She retired from First Victoria National Bank in Victoria in 1999. Her favorite pass times were cross stitch, baking and entertaining. Above all, Mildred treasured her family, friends, and the Lord.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Sterling Henry Wood Jr.; daughter, Carolyn (Wood) Lawson; sons-in-law, Eddie Geurin, Cotton Lawson and Bill Ward; grandson, David Ward; parents; sisters, Imogene Renfro and Anna Stegman; and brother, Carl Furr.
She is survived by four children, Anna Ward, Edith Geurin, Sterling Wood (Lucy), and Phillip Wood (Carrie); nine grandchildren, Crista, Brett, Adam, Brandon, Matthew, Christopher, Amanda, JD and Logan; 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
