Lorenzo Torres Jr., age 66, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020.
Lorenzo was born Sept. 28, 1953, in Taylor to Lorenzo Vega Sr. and Julia Carlin Torres. He discovered his true life's calling as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He embarked a very loving marriage to his wife Minnie Nov. 8, 1969, which spanned the course of 50 years of love and devotion. Together they raised daughters Melissa, Julia, Ashley, and Stephanie; and sons David, Miguel, and Jonathan; never wavering in their love and support.
Lorenzo will forever be remembered for his passion and love for his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His smile and sense of humor would never fail to brighten up a room. He always had a way of turning a negative situation into a positive one.
Working construction all his life, he instilled in his family the hard-working foundation his father gave to him.
During his downtime, Lorenzo loved listening to music while enjoying long country drives. He also loved to barbecue for family functions, as well as getting together for holidays. He possessed a vast knowledge for automobiles and was considered a go-to for any matters car related. He was a firm believer in the importance of car maintenance, including, but not limited to, automobile detailing.
Possessing a flair for fashion, Lorenzo always dressed to impress and never left the house without a hairbrush in his back pocket. Above all, Lorenzo loved to spend time with his wife at home drinking coffee, eating breakfast and watching Young & The Restless.
Lorenzo was preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo Sr. and Julia Torres; siblings, Carlos, Joe, Tony, Gabriel Torres and Georgia Carranza; his daughter, Stephanie Torres; and his son-in-law David Arredondo.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie; his children, Melissa Arredondo, David, Miguel, Jonathan (Anna), Julia (Devin) and Ashley Torres; his siblings, Camerina Martinez (Ray), Elvira Sanchez (Frank), and Lourdes Gonzales (Jesse); 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren as well as numerous of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be held Sunday, Feb. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Condra Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral mass will be held Monday, Feb. 3, at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylor. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Miguel Torres, Jeremy Torres, Josiah Torres, Matthew Mina, Elijah Mina, Daniel Torres, Jeremiah Garza and David Torres. Honorary pallbearers will be Miguel Torres and Christopher Ruiz.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Davita in Taylor; especially Michelle, Jessica, Carol, Rose and Mario. As well as Dr. Mahale with Baylor Scott & White Pflugerville Clinic for all the wonderful care that they provided Mr. T over the years.
