Wanda Jean Holden, 87 years old, born Oct. 19, 1932, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jan. 10, 2020.
She was the bride of Arlie Van Holden for 71 years, three months and one week. She was his constant companion in their journey through life that was really a story book, too lengthy to list here. During her life with Arlie Van (AV Holden) she gave birth to two sons, Weldon Holden and Arlen Dale Holden.
Wanda was a devoted woman of God, longing to see all, especially her family come to the saving knowledge and faith in Jesus Christ. She loved the words of truth from the scriptures such as John 14:6 when Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Me.” She believed it and lived it.
She will be missed by so many because of the lives she touched. She was not only a member but an active torch at Georgetown Church of the Nazarene in Georgetown.
Wanda was preceded in death by her father Johnny W. Brown, her mother Johnnie Lee Brown, her brothers William Brown and Loyd Brown, and sister Lena Laughlin.
Wanda is survived by her husband AV Holden, son Weldon Holden and wife Trudy, and son Dale Holden, sister Mary Dougherty, grandsons David Holden and Clint Holden, and granddaughter Michele Denson. Her great grandchildren are Ashley Holden, Kelly Holden, Emily Holden, Luke Holden, Kayley Holden and Hadley Holden. She also has numerous nieces and nephews from coast to coast.
A visitation with the family will be held Thursday, Jan. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Gabriel’s Funeral Chapel.
A funeral service will take place the following afternoon at 2 p.m. at Georgetown Church of the Nazarene, 4051 E. University Ave, with the burial to immediately follow at IOOF Cemetery.
