HUTTO – April is Month of the Military Child, and Hutto ISD is proud to support our military-affiliated students, families, and staff. On Thursday, April 15, the district celebrated “Purple Up! Day” to recognize and military children.

On Thursday afternoon, the district's Military Support team, along with district leaders and staff from Nadine Johnson Elementary School unveiled a Purple Star Hippo in front of the school.

The hippo was donated by the Hutto Chamber and painted by Hutto ISD Director of Fine Arts, Amber Kingsley.

Nadine Johnson Elementary was recently designated a Purple Star Campus by TEA. The Purple Star Campus Designation recognizes Texas district and charter schools that show their support and commitment to meeting the unique needs of military-connected students and their families.

Nadine Johnson Elementary School is the only Purple Star Campus in Region 13, which encompasses most of central Texas.
