A Taylor man is in jail after he allegedly injured his two-month old son, which resulted in the child being taken to Dell Children Medical Center.
According to Taylor police reports, Bradley Wade Starks, 35, was arrested Friday, Feb. 26, and charged with injury to a child and family violence, a first-degree felony. He turned himself in at the Taylor Police Department.
Dell Children's Medical Center staff reported to police Monday, Feb. 8, that a two-month-old baby was receiving treatment at the facility for injuries sustained to the brain and spine.
Detectives, along with Child Protective Services, began an investigation that allegedly revealed Starks, the child's father, got frustrated with the baby boy before throwing the baby into the baby's swing, causing serious injuries on or about Feb. 7. On the next day, the baby’s parents took him to Dell Children's Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained.
Detectives spoke with Starks, who reportedly admitted to throwing the baby. After consultation with the Williamson County District Attorney's Office, Taylor detectives obtained a probable cause warrant for the arrest of Starks.
Starks’ family released a statement asking for prayers and privacy during this situation.
"We are aware of the nature and seriousness of the charge presented against Bradley in this very difficult situation. The family will continue to support Bradley through this difficult time as he faces this in the court system,” said the statement. “Most importantly, we support his son and his family through this difficult time as well. The family sincerely asks that everyone please respect our privacy as we navigate through this tragic ordeal with Bradley. We ask for your continued prayers for his son, Bradley and his entire family during this time. God bless."
As of Tuesday, March 2, Starks was still in custody at the Williamson County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
