The "State of our City" address for Monday, March 16, has been canceled. The news was announced on the Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce Facebook page Sunday, March 15.
Plans for Taylor Mayor Brandt Rydell’s “State of our City” address on Monday are still in place, according to Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce President Tia Rae Stone.
“We understand the real fears about the Covid-19 virus,” she said. “But since we currently have no confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Williamson County and this gathering will have fewer than 80 people, we feel that it is safe to move forward with it.”
She said she knows there are individuals suffering from respiratory illness who may not be able to attend and encourages them to do what is necessary to protect themselves.
“We are looking at our chamber programs on a case-by-case basis and will be constantly re-evaluating based on the latest information from the Williamson County and Cities Health District and other health agencies,” she added.
The address will be part of the chamber program Monday, March 16, at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites, 180 Carlos G. Parker Blvd. NW. Thrall County Diner will provide the meal this month and Citizens National Bank is sponsoring the program.
Attending the event costs $15 and can be paid in advance at the Chamber office, 1519 N. Main St., on the website, www.taylorchamber.org, or over the phone, 512-352-6364. Reservations are needed.
