Get ready kick up your heels at the Red, White and Rockabilly Chamber gala on Saturday, June 29 in the Gym at Old Taylor High, 410 W. Seventh St.

"What a night this is going to be!" Gala Chair Julie Downs of RE/MAX Realty said. "We are going to celebrate our patriotism – our Americana – and swing our way through the night with great food, music and fun."

Rockabilly is that old, original rock and roll sound. You know it, back when it was just taking off as a blend of country and rhythm and blues. Think Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis and, yes, even Elvis Presley. So, the music is upbeat and fun, fun fun.

Attire for this year's gala is not formal and guests are encouraged to put on their best patriotic or Rockabilly style to add to the fun. There will awards for best costume, best dancing and a pre-event car show as a great time to take photos with some great old cars.

It will also be a night filled with stars. Local artists are working on special auction items of stars adorned in their own special style and creative flare. Those stars will be in the silent auction offering every guest to take home their own piece of local art.

In addition to raising money for the Chamber's work lobbying for small businesses, providing education and recognition to local businesses and developing the local workforce, the Chamber is offering four special sponsorships that will also include hosting one Thursday night of music in Heritage Park.

Individual tickets are on sale for $75 each or two for $125 and sponsorships are still available now. Both can be purchased at the Chamber, 1519 N. Main.

Tickets are also available online at www.taylorchamber.org.

Support for the Chamber provides programs and services that expand the economy and prosperity of our community through advocacy and education for business owners, promotion of local events and attractions for drawing visitors, and welcoming new residents to the community.

Fun for the night will include live music from Rian C, dancing, contests, games, cocktails and silent and dessert auctions. In the dessert auction, each person (or couple) at a table will contribute to the table’s bid to be the first to choose from a variety of delicious desserts, many of which will be donated by area businesses or baked by local bakers.

A united voice from across the community is essential to raising the quality of life for us all. Please help your Chamber help Taylor by donating to or attending this special event.
