Taylor police are investigating a collision that resulted in the death of a man Monday morning in on the city’s loop.

At 5:45 a.m. June 1, the Taylor Police Department received a call reporting the collision. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2001 Honda was being driven by Dillon Patrick Coy, 24, of Bremond. Based on findings thus far, Coy was traveling westbound in the 300 block of Carlos Parker Boulevard SW when his vehicle veered off the roadway. The vehicle struck a reflector pole on the right side of the roadway before it reportedly overcorrected, veered left and crossed the median into oncoming traffic.

When the vehicle entered the opposite eastbound lane into traffic, it struck an 18-wheeler, driven by Theodore Dalton Wells, 56, of Austin.

Coy was pronounced deceased on the scene. Wells sustained minor injuries and was transported to Seton Williamson County Medical Center. The accident marks the Taylor’s first fatal collision in 2020.

Taylor police are investigating the accident, but the department says no criminal charges are anticpated.
