The Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce luncheon, scheduled for Monday, Sept. 21, will feature Taylor ISD Superintendent Keith Brown.
Brown will let the community know how the school year is going in these unprecedented times. Students were served completely online for the first four weeks of school and, about 60 percent of them returned to in-class learning as of Sept. 14. The changes to education forced by the COVID-19 epidemic have been substantial for teachers, students, parents and staff.
Brown joined Taylor ISD as superintendent in 2017 after serving for nine years in Bay City and, prior to that, in Thrall ISD. He was selected Superintendent of the Year in 2013 by the Texas Association of School Boards and Texas Association of School Administrators. Brown submitted his resignation from Taylor schools in August and will be leaving the district Jan. 27, 2021.
The luncheon will be held over Zoom and is sponsored, this month, by Citizens National Bank. To get information on how to join in, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 512-352-6364.
The Chamber’s Programs and Services Committee plans these informative meetings at noon on the third Monday of the month. October’s program is expected to be a report from city of Taylor Main Street Manager Jan Harris who will inform us about proposed changes to the sign ordinance.
Businesses are welcome to sponsor these programs. A $100 sponsorship helps the Chamber continue its work during this crisis. The sponsor will receive recognition in all promotions of the luncheon and two minutes to address attendees during the opening of the meeting. To learn more, email email@example.com or call 512-352-6364.
