Odis Jones

HUTTO – On Thursday night, the Hutto City Council unanimously voted to place City Manager Odis Jones on administrative leave with pay until Dec. 31, the end of his tenure as city manager.

In November, the council approved a separation agreement with the city manager.

Jones was hired by the city in 2016 as a change agent to restore financial solvency to the city and spur economic growth.

Jones will receive a $412,000 severance agreement. The agreement is for $283,000 base salary, $71,000 in benefits and $58,000 in paid vacation and sick leave.

Jones signed a $105,000 consulting agreement for the upcoming Perfect Game project.

On Thursday night, the council unanimously voted to end that contract.

According to media reports, Mayor Doug Gaul said the project would not be jeopardized without Jones as a consultant.

Jones said the decision to end the contract came at his request.

During his tenure in Hutto, the city has embraced a lean management and open for business culture that has led to an explosion of economic growth as well as exceptional enhancements to its citizens quality of life including new parks.

Jones led the city to acquire its own water system, establish a new Industrial Park (Titan), the Co-Op development which is mixed-use development with Flix Brewhouse movie theater under construction.
