Mr. Hewes' fourth grade class recites the Gettysburg Address during distance learning at St. Mary's Catholic School.

Fourth graders several days ago were brought forth to honor a legendary speech.

The St. Mary’s Catholic School fourth grade class got together in Google Meet session recently to recite the Gettysburg Address. Abraham Lincoln first spoke the infamous words on Nov. 19, 1863.

Mr. Hewes’ class had been preparing for nearly nine weeks by memorizing the speech. The recitation was a final project grade for the students.

After the students took turns doing their recitations, Hewes asked them, "What have you been doing to stay busy during this time, and what are you looking forward to when you come back to school as a fifth grader?” The answers varied from sports to having a locker to being around the bigger kids.
