Jessilyn Fuentes celebrates her transition to the University of Texas at Austin while also being named as a recipient of a scholarship from the Daughters of the American Revolution.

A future Taylor ISD alum will have some help to begin her college career.

Jessilyn Fuentes has been named the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship from the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). The Taylor High School senior has been accepted to the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in exercise science.

“With this major, and with certain specializations and certifications added on, I am going down the path of becoming a physical therapist,” said Fuentes. “I want to be a physical therapist so that I may help others after they've experienced traumatic events so that I am able to help them to get better and back on their feet.”

Fuentes is active in the National Honor Society, student council, academic decathlon, HOSA, Spanish club, art club, powerlifting, soccer, cross-country and cheerleading.
