On The Right Track, a summer career camp provided by Bloom Consulting, took students for a tour of the Taylor Press/Granite Publications building last week to learn about job opportunities in journalism.

“We have a whole curriculum about job coaching skills, building a resume and we do mock interviews,” said Dr. Susan Upshaw, pre-ETS coordinator with Bloom Consulting. “It’s also about learning those soft skills you need to keep the job.”

Taylor Press Publisher Jason Hennington provided a tour of the press offices. Students visited the creative department to learn how ads and pages for the newspaper are made. They also heard about advertising from Jonathan Jones and received a guided tour of the printing and distribution process from Granite Publications Vice President Daniel Philhower.
