The Gonzales family is ready to cook up some competition at an exclusive barbecue cook-off created just for family.

On Sept. 6-7, the family will host a barbecue cook-off at 5432 FM 619 near the S.P.J.S.T. Hall.

Andres Gonzales said the idea came from a conversation at a family barbecue.

“One day we were talking about barbecue and wondering who could barbecue the best,” he said. “The idea became the Gonzales Bragging Rights Barbecue Cook-Off.”

The event will follow International Barbecue Cookers Association rules. There will be awards for beef, pork and chicken. There will also be a beans contest.

To compete, the team must consist of Gonzales family members.

Judges are people from Taylor and surrounding areas.

Cookers will be registering Friday Sept. 6 at noon. The cook-off begins Saturday, Sept. 7 at 8 a.m.

Vendors will be available.

For more information, call Gonzales at 512-690-3331.
