Police investigate shooting

The Taylor Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred in the 2300 block of Thomas Street early Tuesday morning.

According to police reports, on Tuesday, July 21, at 1:14 a.m. officers responded to a call of shots fired. Officers arrived and found a 24-year-old man who suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was transported by EMS to a local hospital for treatment.

The victim is in serious, but stable condition.

The preliminary investigation revealed that two houses across the street from each other were struck with multiple bullets that appears to have occurred from an exchange of gunfire.

Police believe this was a targeted shooting, and is not related to shootings that occurred in June.

Detectives are investigating persons of interest in the shooting. Patrols are being

stepped-up in the area.

The shooting is still under investigation.
