On Monday, July 27, at 12:19 a.m., officers responded to Taylor Village Inn, 1907 N. Main, reference to reports of shots fired. Officers arrived on scene and learned that there were no reported injuries. The victim’s vehicle and suspect’s vehicle both fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Evidence indicates there was an exchange of gunfire. The suspect was armed with and used a rifle. The victim was armed with and used a shotgun.
Officers located a spent shotgun wad, along with a spent .45 cal casing, and Hydrocodone pills in a small baggie at the scene. Officers also located a vehicle parked near the entrance of the business that had a large hole in the front passenger door from a shotgun slug.
Officers checked several addresses in town and were unable to locate either vehicle. Contact was made with the local hospitals who did not have any reports of gunshot victims.
The department is investigating persons of interest in the shooting and has initiated frequent patrols in the area.
The shooting is still under investigation.
