Office of the Governor

A press conference room sits ready for Gov. Greg Abbott to make an announcement April 27.

The end of orders from both the state and county is on the horizon.

On Friday, May 1, the state itself will be allowing some businesses to open. During a press conference, Gov. Greg Abbott said he will allow the state's Stay Home Stay Safe order to expire. Businesses such as malls, movie theaters, doctors’ and dentists’ offices will be allowed to open and operate at 25% occupancy. Barber shops and salons will remain closed, but Abbott hopes they will allowed to open by mid-May.

Williamson County's Stay Home Stay Safe Order is also set to expire Friday. Jurisdictions lower in hierarchy can issue new orders if they deem fit, although Williamson County has been guided by the state's direction in recent actions.
