Friday's weather forecast may throw cold water on Santa's plans to meet with his young fans.
The forecast calls for rain. A lot of it.
And, if the weather folks are correct, and it's raining cats and dogs, neither he nor his wife will be at the Santa Hut.
"Mrs. Claus and I are going to be toasty, warm and dry, sitting in the Santa Hut," he said during a Skype interview from the North Pole Thursday morning. "We don't want to see all the little kids drenched and cold while waiting to see and talk to me or have their picture made."
The jolly old elf was uncharistically serious when he said that Friday is his biggest concern.
"If it's terribly inclement, we just don't think it's good for the little kids to stand around outside waiting," he said.
But then he laughed, and with a twinkle in his eye, he munched on a cookie and washed it down with a glass of milk.
Weather permitting (and it should), the jolly couple will be at the Santa Hut, which is on Main Street between Fourth and Fifth streets directly across from Heritage Park, Saturday evening.
Santa will also be available the next two weekends. Next weekend, he and Mrs. Claus will be on site Friday and Saturday. The following weekend, which is the weekend before Christmas, they will be there Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
