Lady Ducks ho ps start scrimmages

The highly anticipated 2023-24 season for the Taylor High School girls varsity basketball team is here as the Lady Ducks are set to begin scrimmages.

Under Taylor Head Coach Lawrence Bailey and Assistant Coaches Jay Reed and Jeffrey Fisher, the Lady Ducks will have a pair of scrimmages Saturday against Leander Rouse High School and Pflugerville Weiss High School. They will also remain on the road Monday evening as Taylor will scrimmage both Austin Vandegrift High School and Marble Falls High School.

The Lady Ducks will be led by a trio of seniors with East Texas Baptist University commit Ansley Reed, Killeen Ellison High School transfer Asia Zachary and returner Mia Duncan. Taylor will have a large junior class led by Sophia Fisher, Kionayh Rivers, Zakaya Frederick, Ursula Rydell and Molli Kennick. Sophomores will be Aubriana Alderete and Killeen Shoemaker High School transfer Madyson Mitchell, while the lone freshman on the varsity team to start the season will be Tiana Candee.

After this team completes its handful of scrimmages, the Lady Ducks’ varsity squad is set to open its regular season Friday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. hosting Leander High School. Be sure to look for an in-depth season preview of Taylor girls basketball and other area teams in the upcoming special 76574+ winter sports guide that comes out in November.
