The Triple Crown Sports (TCS) Southwest Summer Nationals return to Taylor for the fourth consecutive year later this week.
The prestigious fastpitch softball tournament will be held July 19-22 at the Taylor Regional Park and Sports Complex, as well as other venues in Austin, Georgetown and Round Rock.
"I think the fields look really good going into the tournament," said Larry Foos, director of Parks and Recreation. "We've had a couple weeks to prepare, so we let the grass rest a little bit and did some dirt work and edging."
Taylor's field quality is a big reason why TCS has placed many of its 16U games at the Regional Park. Other age brackets include 10U, 12U, 14U and 18U.
"It's pretty impressive that we get one of the older age brackets," Foos said. "They usually want to place those teams at some really good fields."
Roughly 38 club teams will converge on Taylor this week. Most of them are Texas teams, but a few hail from Arizona, Mississippi and Massachusetts.
